Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‚Daytona‘

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 is a sports car built by the Italian manufacturer Ferrari from 1969 to 1973, also known by the name Ferrari Daytona. The closed 365 GTB/4 and its derived convertible version, the 365 GTS/4 ("Daytona Spider"), belong to the Ferrari 365 model family. Like the rest of that family, they are powered by a 4.4-litre twelve-cylinder V engine, but feature their own distinctive body by Pininfarina. Earlier examples were delivered with wide Plexiglas-covered headlights, while later models had pop-up headlights instead. The "Daytona" was Ferrari's flagship model of its day, and it is also of interest from an automotive-history perspective: it was the last super sports car, for the time being, to have its engine mounted at the front, after which the Italians switched over to the mid-engine concept. It never officially carried the nickname by which it became known: a celebrated one-two-three finish by the Ferrari P4 prototypes at the American 24-hour race in Daytona Beach earned it its nickname. The Daytona is regarded as one of the most attractive Ferrari road sports cars and, in both closed and open versions, ranks among the high-priced Ferrari classics. The cars are now considered investment pieces.
