Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Speciale Touring Coupé, 1938

The vehicle in question is a one-off and is the pride and joy of the Alfa Romeo "Storico" Museum in Arese, Italy. Not only because the vehicle has an interesting history, but also because its appearance is spectacular and unique. The Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B was originally prepared for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1938. For this, the vehicle was given a closed body (Berlinetta) designed by coachbuilding specialist Touring, built using lightweight construction based on aerodynamic findings and on Touring's patented Superleggera principle (aluminium body). An uprated 8-cylinder inline engine with 220 hp and further Le Mans-specific equipment completed the racing specification for Le Mans.
