"In the basement of his parents' house in Zürich, Peter Sauber built his first racing sports car. In 1970, he won the Swiss Sports Car Championship with it at his first attempt. The so-called C1 remained in racing use for ten seasons."

"C", incidentally, stands for his wife Christine. All Sauber racing car types begin with a "C".
