Maserati 250F, 1957

The year 1957 embodied one of the most significant and eventful high points in Maserati's company history, as on 4 August, in front of more than 200,000 spectators, the start was given for the Grand Prix of the Century on the most difficult and, at the same time, most beautiful racetrack in the world, the famous Nürburgring in the Eifel. After a fierce battle with his two rivals Mike Hawthorn and Peter Collins, both driving Ferrari 801 F1s, Juan Manuel Fangio, in his lightweight-specification Maserati 250F racing car, celebrated one of his greatest victories with a 3.6-second margin. With this magnificent triumph, Fangio secured his fifth world championship title and thus went down in racing history as a legend - and with him, the Maserati 250F.
