Mercedes-Benz-Rennwagen auf eigener Achse die Rennstrecken erreichen. Mit den Rennsport-Tourenwagen der S-Serie ist das problemlos m\u00f6glich, da sie f\u00fcr den Strassenverkehr zugelassen sind. Das \u00e4ndert sich mit dem Einstieg in den Grand-Prix-Rennsport. Nun werden Transporter ben\u00f6tigt, um zu den Rennen zu kommen.<\/p>\n<p>Mercedes-Benz steht daf\u00fcr mit dem Typ LO 2750 ein bew\u00e4hrter 2,75-Tonner aus eigener Produktion zur Verf\u00fcgung. Der LKW aus dem Werk Gaggenau hat ein Niederflur-Fahrgestell mit entsprechend tiefliegender Ladepritsche, die sich f\u00fcr das einfache Be- und Entladen der Silberpfeile anbietet. Angetrieben wird er von einem robusten und sparsamen 4-Zylinder-Diesel mit 65 PS Leistung. 1934 entsteht eine kleine Serie dieser Renntransporter, die in Mercedes-Blau lackiert sind und den Schriftzug \u201cMercedes-Benz Rennabteilung\u201c an den Ladebordw\u00e4nden tragen. Mille Miglia unter die R\u00e4der zu nehmen.Wegen einem abgesprungenen Tankdeckel mit \u00fcberschwappendem Treibstoff auf Fahrer und Beifahrer mu\u00dfte das Team in aussichtsreicher Spitzengruppe und nach mehr als der H\u00e4lfte der Strecke leider aufgeben.Der Ausgang des Rennens ist mittlerweile weltbekannt und ging in die Renngeschichte ein.
