k\u00f6nnen, rostig, verstaubt, aber von jener Bedeutung, welche die Fachwelt in Erstaunen versetzen w\u00fcrde. So geschehen mit dem C-Type XKC023 und erlebt von Herrn Dr. Christian Jenny.<\/p>\n<p>Der Jaguar C-Type mit Chassis-Nr. 023 wurde Ende 1952 an den kalifornischen Hauptvertreter von Jaguar, Charles Hornburg, geliefert und von diesem nach Seattle an Joe Henderson weiter verkauft. Im August 1953 nahm dieser erstmals an einem \u00fcberregionalen Rennen teil, den 100 Meilen der Seattle Seafair. Fahrer waren Bill Pollack und Jack Douglas, Letzterer Hollywood Kom\u00f6dienschreiber und Fernsehproduzent. Douglas war durch Kom\u00f6dien f\u00fcr die Ber\u00fchmtheiten Hollywoods und seine enge Beziehung zu Mizzi Gaynor bekannt.<\/p>\n<p>Wenig sp\u00e4ter wurde Herr Douglas aus der Stadt der Engel der Erstbesitzer des schicken, schnellen C-Type und der nutzte jede sich bietende Gelegenheit, mit Fahrzeug und Freundin in Erscheinung zu treten. Auch das Rennfahren lag ihm im Blut und so wurde der C-Type oft und erfolgreich bei lokalen Rennveranstaltungen eingesetzt. Nach einem Unfall, bei dem XKC023 karosserieseitig erheblichen Schaden nahm, erlosch das Interesse des Hobby-Rennfahrers am C-Type. Dennoch blieb das Fahrzeug noch f\u00fcr einige Jahre an der Westk\u00fcste und ging 1962 in den Besitz von Frank Schierenbeck, den Besitzer einer renommierten Jaguar-Vertretung \u00fcber. Dort blieb der C-Type bis 1997, geriet allerdings bereits Mitte der Sechziger in Vergessenheit. 1986 begann die erste Spurensuche nach dem verschollenen Chassis, 1997 wurde der Schatz gehoben, im November 2000 wurde XKC023 fertiggestellt. Kaum restauriert, startete der Jaguar-Schatz mit der Besatzung Jenny\/Werdenberg bei der historischen Mille Miglia 2001.
