The 156 was the first Ferrari with a mid-mounted engine.<br \/>\nDer Wagen war von Beginn an voll konkurrenzf\u00e4hig. 1961 wurde das Team der Scuderia nur dreimal geschlagen. Giancarlo Baghetti gewann den Gran Premio di Siracusa, der nicht zur Weltmeisterschaft z\u00e4hlte, und seinen ersten Weltmeisterschaftslauf, den Grossen Preis von Frankreich. Allerdings war der Wagen bei diesen beiden Rennen offiziell von der FISA gemeldet.<\/p>\n<p>Das Titelduell zwischen Wolfgang von Trips und Phil Hill wurde durch den Todessturz des Deutschen beim Grossen Preis von Italien in Monza f\u00fcr den Amerikaner entschieden, der den ersten Fahrertitel f\u00fcr die Scuderia seit 1958 einfuhr. Auch die Konstrukteursweltmeisterschaft ging klar an den italienischen Rennstall.<br \/>\nThe engine was light and produced 190 hp from 1476 cc.
